Ingredients

  • 3 ripe avocados coarsely mashed
  • 8 medjool dates pits removed, soaked 30 minutes and drained
  • ¾ cup unsweetened natural cocoa powder or raw cacao powder
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • ½ cup agave nectar or maple syrup
  • ½ cup non-dairy milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Place all of the ingredients in a food processor fitted with an s-blade. Process until smooth, stopping to scrape down the sides if necessary. If the mixture is too thick, add a little more non-dairy milk, a tablespoon at a time. Taste the mixture for sweetness. If it’s too bitter, add a little more agave or maple syrup, a tablespoon at a time. Keep in mind that the mousse will get sweeter as it chills.
  • Place in an air-tight container and chill for at least 2 hours before serving. Avocado Chocolate Mousse can be frozen and served like ice cream, too.
